**AyeDubbs: Running & Blogging**

 For now, here’s my story.

I am a college basketball player turned long-distance runner. I dabbled in running in high school, but never identified with the sport. In college, burnt on basketball, and losing interest in the sport, I quit after my first season playing point-guard at a small Division III school. When I joined the track team that spring, I traded in my high-top sneakers for a pair of spikes, rolled my basketball to the back of my closest, folded up my long shorts, and baggy t-shirts, returned my jersey to the equipment room, and never looked back. Not even for a second.

My hope for this blog is that I will not turn into a writer who is logging my every step and talking about my training for the “sake of talking about it” (because I have my training log for that), nor will I turn into the next runner reviewing the latest running product adamantly giving my self-serving opinion on the latest minimal shoes because (let’s be honest) I can’t afford that gear. Though I may log runs, and update about training, and get caught up talking about a new sneaker I love, or a recipe I tried, my main hope for me is that I learn from myself, ourselves, and others, and maybe something someone stumbles upon on here will help them.

My personal goal for me here is to be honest in my writing, and to become a more whole runner again. When I moved across the country to go to law school, I left behind parts of my running – important parts. My teammates who had become friends, my running support network, my club team, my trails, and most irreversibly my coach (who, though only briefly coached me, was brilliant and changed my running for better, for worst, and for ways I do not truly understand myself). Then, just months after I left, I suffered my first major injury. That’s why, to me, cclark’s title is so fitting; this is my clean slate. For me, this is both a physical and mental journey back to fitness.

I hope everyone will be patient with my blogging, as unlike cclark, I am not a seasoned blogger, but I promise to keep trying, and keep reading other people’s stories.

Be well.
